In reading others’ New Year’s resolutions and goals for 2014, I felt it pertinent to share some of what I’m planning for in the new year.
Looking Back (2013)
In looking at all I accomplished in the last year, two things stick out: almost none of the things I actually did were things I had planned on doing, and none of the things I accomplished were without someone else’s help and support.
Here are the highlights:
- The Humble Season – Earlier this year, I launched my new music project (thanks to Andy Othling‘s The Music Passage course). I also started doing YouTube videos for my song ideas and gear demos.
- In the summer, I hosted a house concert for Nick Flora and even opened for him. Pretty sweet.
- I launched “The Weekend Musician” in the Fall and have done 6 podcasts so far. I have loved making some new friends and talking about music with people from all over the world.
- I released a Christmas album and raised $200 for my friend’s family in New York who lost their house from Hurricane Sandy last year.
Looking Ahead (2014)
This year, I hope to continue working on my music and releasing a bunch of new collaborative songs with other musicians. My plan is to release them as they are done, and add them to a collection of ever-growing music as one album.
I’m also going to be doing a lot more this year on The Weekend Musician, and already have a few guests lined up for the new year. I hope to also interview some full time musicians about their time as a part time musician and transition to making it their job.
Lastly, I will not be blogging much if at all from this website for awhile. I used this site to experiment with a few ideas this past year, and now it’s time to put those things into practice. So, this site will mostly server as a landing page for my other projects as they come and go. The blog will stay as an archive but will not be featured anywhere nor updated.
What are your goals for 2014?
